   Our team

Claire Tod – Architectural Designer

Joining the Energy Architecture team in 2021, Claire has managed the design and construction of her own new home in challenging conditions in Te Whanganui-a-Tara.
Targeting Passive House certification for her own project, she has added experience in high performance building to her nearly two decades experience working in architecture.

A mother of three children. She enjoys getting out and exploring te taiao/nature with her family.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Architecture with Honours – Te Herenga Waka – Victoria University.
  • Te Pōkairua Reo (Rumaki) (Te Kaupae 5) – New Zealand Diploma in Te Reo (Rumaki) Level 5 – Te Wānanga o Aotearoa

Andréa Constantin — Architectural Designer & Technologist

After studying Civil engineering in Bordeaux, Andrea specialized in construction energy efficiency through further studies at VIA University in Denmark.

A keen surfer & diver, a love of our shared environment underpins his drive to lead sustainable development and environmental protection in the building industry.

In 2017, Andrea relocated to New Zealand to pursue his passion to create healthy, sustainable architecture.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor in engineering specialised in energy design
  • Certified passive house designer

Guy Shaw — Director & Registered Architect

I believe architecture can carry us into our more sustainable future in many exciting ways.
By embracing the Passive House standard, I found a way to embrace the responsibility we hold as designers: To ensure the wellbeing of people and our shared environment.

I formed Energy Architecture NZ Ltd in 2013 after returning from 5 years working in the UK. My ambition is to use my experience in designing for comfort and energy efficiency to help solve long standing health and performance issues associated with housing and other building types.

Qualifications:

  • Registered Architect
  • Certified passive house designer.
  • ATTMA Level 1 Registered Air Tightness Tester

Guy volunteers as treasurer for the following organisations:

  • Passive House Institute NZ (PHINZ), a charitable trust promoting the Passive House Standard
  • Air permeability Testing NZ (APTNZ), as industry body governing testing of building to verify quality.
